What an evaluation looks like

Every evaluation follows the same four stages, so you always know what comes next.

  1. Initial appointment

About an hour with a psychologist to understand your concerns and decide which tests fit.

  2. Testing

Usually 2 to 6 hours in person, sometimes split over two days to keep fatigue down.

  3. Scoring and report

Your psychologist reviews every test and questionnaire, then writes a full report.

  4. Feedback session

We walk you through the results, what they mean, and the recommended next steps.

4 to 6 weeks from first appointment to final report

Ages 6 and up for evaluations

Rooted in this island since 2013

Dr. Val J. Umphress was licensed as a psychologist in 1997 and practiced at Pali Momi and independently before founding Oahu Psychological Services in 2013.

A former university instructor, he built the practice to meet the needs of the local community and to help new clinicians gain experience as they start their careers. Today our team of licensed behavioral health specialists serves individuals and works alongside hospitals and medical providers across Oʻahu.

Whatever the approach, every treatment rests on respect for the individual and a strong relationship between client and clinician.
